ATB SYSTEMS CHOSEN FOR NEW SMA FLAGSHIP AUCTION SITE
SMA Vehicle Remarketing, the largest and oldest independent motor auction group in th UK has recently unveiled its new state of the art auction centre, minutes from the M6 in Birmingham, with windows, doors and curtain walling supplied and fitted by ATB Systems.
Featuring an imaginative design with a dual lane auction hall, lounge areas, meeting places and fully equipped vehicle technical services centre on-site, the 8 acre complex has been developed to provide a modern approach to motor auctions. The feature entrance of the building features the SC Frame curtain wall system from Smart Aluminum Systems designed for low to medium rise façades including large shop fronts and showrooms. Large glazed areas also using the SC system have been incorporated in low level areas within the on-site restaurant and administration offices.
Ease of installation of the Smart Aluminium Systems’ SC frame as well as the doors and windows made them ideal for this fast track build – curtain walling, windows and doors were delivered in November and the site’s critical areas made watertight before heavy snow in December 2010.
Aluminum windows have been specified throughout with ATB Systems’ enhanced security Taurus Max top and side hung aluminum casement windows. Tested to BS7950, Taurus Max Casement Windows have achieved the highest level of security testing for this type of aluminium window, providing the end user with added reassurance.
With security important, the new complex has a Smart Aluminium Systems’ Shopline heavy duty, internally beaded door system, particularly suitable for commercial door areas including those rated ‘Severe Duty’ such as this car site.
Site developer, Russ Barnshaw said: “The requirements of the contract were easy to define but the detailing required a close liaison with our architects, steel frame and cladding contractors.
“It was ATB’s attention to engineering dimensional detail that enabled the work to proceed without any problems.
“We also found them co-operative and sensible, which is important when much of their work was at a very busy atrium entrance area”
