ATB and Wernick

13 Aug 2015

We are all familiar with the traditional temporary buildings that we see on construction sites.  Over the years, the market has changed and the demand for prefabricated buildings has increased with a move towards more permanent structures.

Modular offsite construction is becoming popular in a variety of market sectors:  offices, healthcare, housing, police cells and particularly education where the rapid construction that modular buildings facilitates, enables building to be fitted in to school holiday periods.

Wernick Buildings, an independent modular building specialist has become one of the market leaders in the UK in this field.  The company is part of 4 divisions within the Wernick Group which started life in Wolverhampton and celebrated its 80th anniversary last year.

ATB Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of aluminium windows and doors and curtain walling has been supplying windows and doors to the Modular Building and Offsite Construction industry for nearly two decades. The relationship between ATB and Wernick goes back to the first year that ATB started trading, in 1998, and the two companies have worked together ever since.  ATB aluminium windows and doors are used in Wernick buildings for healthcare, education, student accommodation and hospitality applications amongst others.

Rose Davies, Purchasing Manager of Wernick Buildings says, “90% of doors and windows for our modular buildings are produced by ATB Systems.  Over the years we have tried other suppliers but we return to ATB due to the quality and service we get from them.   Their products meet all our requirements in terms of performance and their responsiveness is second to none. They have never let us down.”

As Colin Freeman, Managing Director of ATB Systems remarks “Wernick is one of our most valued customers and we appreciate the long standing close relationship we have, which has developed and grown over the years.

We work closely with our customers to produce products which meet their needs at the right price and right quality combined with good service. We may not always be the cheapest but we deliver the service they require.

Lead times are particularly important in the modular building industry and quite often these requirements alter.  At ATB we try to work to prioritise which jobs are the most important to fit in with our customers’ production schedules.  Wernick Buildings has recently moved to a new larger premises based in Kenfig, Port Talbot.  A larger factory means an increased output.  Production is already up by 190% compared to this time last year and will eventually be double, so regular contact is important to keep each other informed so we can manage their requirements effectively.”

Colin adds, “ATB products have been developed over the years to adapt to changes in the market place and as a result of feedback from our customers. Customers look to ATB for advice and guidance on how to achieve legislative and performance requirements whilst at the same time providing cost effective solutions.   As a team we are dedicated to building long term partnerships, such as the one with Wernick, working to understand our customers’ needs."
